Regenerative medicine is often viewed through the lens of human healthcare, but many transformative advances begin with understanding how therapies perform in veterinary patients.
Unlike experimental laboratory models, veterinary patients develop naturally occurring diseases such as osteoarthritis, tendon injuries, chronic wounds, and ocular disorders.
These spontaneous conditions closely mirror the complexity, heterogeneity, and progression of diseases encountered in humans.
As a result, veterinary medicine occupies a unique position at the interface between basic science and clinical translation.
As researchers passionate about regenerative medicine, Amitha Banu Shajahan and I wanted to create a resource that bridges science and clinical practice.
We were fortunate to collaborate with an exceptional international group of experts who helped make this vision a reality.
We hope this book not only serves the veterinary community but also highlights the critical role of veterinary regenerative medicine in shaping the future of regenerative therapies for both animals and humans.
A sincere thank you to all contributing authors, collaborators, and Springer for making this project possible.”
