Hussam Hammoud: A Slap Is Not “Just a Slap” When the Patient Has Hemophilia
Hussam Hammoud, Data Analyst at COAR Global, shared a post on X:
“The Interior Ministry’s own committee has now confirmed: an investigator slapped Ghmeira on the neck.
He had told Internal Security he was a hemophiliac, a man whose blood cannot clot.
So a state officer struck the neck of a man the state knew could bleed to death from a blow.
That is no longer the family’s allegation. It is the committee’s finding. And there are names. Investigator Ahmad Jawad is referred to the public prosecutor in Latakia; Captain Ahmad Shaker al-Masri and investigator Omar Youssef face disciplinary investigation.
Latakia’s prosecutor, Osama Shannaq, pledges to fast-track the case against anyone who contributed to the death.
But watch the sleight of hand. The committee certifies according to the forensic report ‘no visible signs of violence’. then confirms a slap to the neck, exactly where the family described clear redness.
You cannot clear the skin and confirm the blow that marked it.
And ‘just a slap’ is not exoneration in a hemophiliac; it is the disorder.
In a man whose blood won’t clot, the mark stays small while the bleeding goes inward.
They explained the forehead bruise, the foot bruise, the striae, and never explained what killed him: the brain and gastrointestinal hemorrhage that stopped his heart three times.
You can account for every mark on the skin and still not account for the death.
A known hemophiliac, slapped in custody by the officer investigating him, dead days later of an internal hemorrhage.
This is the first line of an indictment, not the last line of a case. A referral is not a conviction; a pledge is not a verdict.”
