Arman Qamar: Can Polygenic Risk Scores Help Predict Future Events After Revascularization?
Arman Qamar, Founder and Director, ECCORE at Endeavor Health, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in American Journal of Preventive Cardiology, adding:
”Pleased to share our recent publication in the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology:
‘Coronary artery disease polygenic risk score and recurrent cardiovascular events after coronary artery revascularization: A UK Biobank analysis.’
In nearly 12,000 patients undergoing PCI or CABG, we found that higher genetic risk for CAD was associated with a substantially higher risk of repeat coronary revascularization and cardiovascular mortality.
Importantly, genetic risk provided additional information beyond traditional cardiometabolic risk factors, highlighting the potential role of genomics in understanding residual cardiovascular risk after revascularization.
While further validation is needed before clinical implementation, these findings support the broader vision of integrating genetic, clinical, and biomarker data to advance precision cardiovascular medicine.
Grateful to all of our collaborators who contributed to this work.”
