David McIntosh: The Global Plasma Supply Debate

David McIntosh, Founder and Chair at United Plasma Action, shared Immune Deficiency Foundation’s post on LinkedIn:

“This analysis of the global situation with respect to plasma-derived medicines is profoundly thought-provoking.

It should be compulsory reading/listening for all Government Health officials and Blood Transfusion decision-makers, globally.

Now that all the old fairy stories about alleged safety risks in the financial compensation of donors have been completely disproven and debunked, anri-payment advocates have only their ‘ethical’ arguments left.

Now that an eminent Ethics Professor is calmly pointing out that the anti-payment ‘ethical’ arguments are also bunkum, the case may be safely closed.

Case dismissed – please proceed to adopt Voluntary Reasonably Compensated Donation wherever and whenever it seems helpful in raising a better plasma supply for patients.”

New Episode Alert

What does global plasma supply have to do with primary immunodeficiency? Everything.

We sat down with Peter Jaworski, professor of ethics at Georgetown University, who has spent years untangling the myths and misconceptions that get in the way of a strong, reliable plasma collection system—the very system that makes life-saving treatments possible for the PI community.”
