Yiming Luo: Anti-β2GPI GWAS Reveals a Paradox in Thrombotic Mechanisms
Yiming Luo, Rheumatologist and Scientist at Columbia Medicine, shared a post on X:
”Our anti-β2GPI GWAS paper is now out! We found a paradox and a plausible explanation.
Our human genetics work re-capitulated the established model that Domain V binding to phospholipid is essential for anti-β2GPI-mediated thrombosis.
These findings have clinical application potentials, but large patient cohort studies are necessary to elucidate.”
ACR Journals shared a post on X about a recent article by Christophe Lalaurie et al., adding:
”A coding variant in APOH was associated with higher anti-β2-glycoprotein I antibody levels but lower venous thromboembolism risk.
Genetic and structural analyses suggest that altered phospholipid binding and epitope exposure may explain this paradox.
Molecular dynamics simulations of wild-type and W335S β2GPI (APOH) in a representative linear conformation (J-shape 2).”
