Andy Darlington: Randomized Evidence for Catheter-Based Treatment of Intermediate-High-Risk PE

Andy Darlington, Global Partnerships Manager of Medical Devices at Radcliffe Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“In this clip, Prof Lukas Hobohm reviews the findings from the HI-PEITHO randomised controlled trial.

The trial compared EKOS plus anticoagulation with anticoagulation alone in 544 patients with intermediate-high-risk PE, assessing whether intervention could reduce early PE-related complications.

The discussion explores the reduction in the composite outcome of PE-related mortality, cardiopulmonary decompensation or PE recurrence within seven days, alongside findings on major bleeding and hospital length of stay.

Watch the clip below for insights into how randomised evidence is shaping treatment strategies for intermediate-high-risk PE.”
