Katrina Snow: Whole Blood or Component Therapy – Which Would You Choose?
Katrina Snow, Transfusion Safety Officer at North York General Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Picture this scenario: you have experienced a traumatic bleed and you need blood immediately. The clinical team caring for you has access to whole blood (LTOWB) and component therapy.
What do you want them to choose for you (whole blood vs. component therapy), and why?
For me (an RhD-negative female of childbearing potential) I’d be hoping they choose component therapy.”
