Martha Gulati, Director of the Davis Women Heart Center at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center, shared The BMJ‘s post on X:
“Consistent with prior research, oral MHT is associated with increased thrombotic risk.
The same is not seen with transdermal MHT.”
The BMJ (British Medical Journal) shared a post on X about a recent article by Julie Berggreen et al., adding:
“Compared with no use of hormone therapy, oral menopausal hormone therapy was associated with increased venous thromboembolic risk regardless of dosage and treatment duration, finds study.
No increased thrombotic risks were observed with transdermal therapy.”
