Xavier Griffin: Celebrating NIHR-Funded Trials and Exploring How to Do Research Better

Xavier Griffin, Professor at Queen Mary University of London, President at Orthopaedic Trauma Society, Chair at Bone and Joint Health, Orthopaedic Surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, shared Bone and Joint Health‘s post on LinkedIn:

“Fabulous day celebrating many NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) funded trials and talking about how we do them better, bigger and faster!

Thank you so much to all the CIs presenting, patients Thrombosis UK and research teams who came together to make this happen.”

Bone and Joint Health shared a post on LinkedIn:

“What a fantastic turn out to our first Orthopaedic VTE Forum!

Delighted to host this forum with brilliant clinicians who have come together, cross disciplinary and from all over the UK to answer key questions around VTE management and prophylaxis in Orthopaedics.

It goes without saying that none of this work could progress without the support and leadership from Professor Beverley Hunt and Thrombosis UK.

So far we have heard about what will be a game changer trial for prophylaxis in arthroplasty from Amr Selim – HASTE will evaluate short (14 days) versus long (35 days) of Apixiban for patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty.

Prof Xavier Griffin is presenting DIRECT – a monumental study which will evaluate if Asprin is as good as LMWH in preventing VTE following hip fracture…

All by 11.45!”
