Javed Iqbal: NUMC Pulmonary and Critical Care Team Showcases Research at CHEST 2026
Javed Iqbal, Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care at Nassau Health Care Corporation, Attending Physician of Critical Care Medicine at Montefiore Einstein Department of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“That’s a wrap on CHEST 2026 in Phoenix!
We closed out the final day with a strong showing from our NUMC Pulmonary and Critical Care team, with multiple rapid fire and poster presentations.
Our fellow Dr. Muhammad Ishaq presented in the Rapid Fire session on ARDS Without Infection: MPO-ANCA Vasculitis-Induced Pulmonary-Renal Syndrome Masquerading as Recurrent ARDS.
He also presented his poster, Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma Mimicking Miliary Tuberculosis in an Immigrant Patient With a Positive QuantiFERON Assay, a powerful reminder that not everything miliary is tuberculosis.
Our fellow Dr. Sindhu Harika Peketi could not be with us in Phoenix, so we proudly presented her two posters on her behalf, including The Pathway Laced With Crazy Paving: A Diagnostic Challenge, a case of ARDS from an aspirated foreign body hiding behind a classic imaging pattern.
Dr. Mahnoor Umar presented Acute Alcohol-Induced Necrotic Pancreatitis Complicated by Concurrent Splenic Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism in a Young Adult.
Dr. Yash Trivedi presented Pre-versus Post-Pandemic Racial Trends in Mortality Rates for Cardiogenic Shock Caused by Ischemic Heart Disease, using CDC WONDER data from 2018 to 2023.
Across these few days, our team delivered rapid fire talks, case reports, and research posters, and engaged with colleagues from across the country.
I could not be prouder of their hard work, curiosity, and professionalism.
Thank you to our division, our residency program, and NUMC for supporting academic growth for our trainees.
Until next year, CHEST!”
