Ahmar U. Zaidi, Senior Medical Director of Clinical Development at Agios Pharmaceuticals, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in The Lancet, adding:
“Some papers mean more than others for those of us in science.
RISE UP is now published in the Lancet, and while a paper can mean the end of a study, sometimes it can represent something much bigger.
I’ve spent much of my career caring for people with sicklecell disease, and the last several years helping develop a new way to treat it. Seeing those worlds come together on this page is hard to put into words.
Behind every number are 207 patients who trusted us, 69 research teams who partnered with us, and an Agios team that refused to stop asking what might be possible if we put patients first.
Deeply proud of this work, and even more grateful to the sickle cell community that made it possible.
We keep rising.”
