Pouya Tahsili-Fahadan: Evolving Boundaries in Acute Stroke Care – Key Takeaways from WSC 2026
Pouya Tahsili-Fahadan, Medical Director of Stroke at Inova Fairfax Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
“Acute stroke care is evolving rapidly – and the boundaries of reperfusion therapy continue to expand.
Recent clinical trials are broadening treatment eligibility, challenging traditional time-based criteria, and emphasizing the growing importance of tissue viability and individualized patient selection.
At the same time, important questions remain:
How can we move beyond successful recanalization to achieve effective tissue reperfusion, minimize reperfusion injury, and ultimately improve functional recovery?
I put together these two infographics to highlight recent advances in acute reperfusion therapy and emerging priorities and future directions in stroke care, informed by recent research and discussions at the World Stroke Congress 2026.
Looking forward to continued progress and collaboration in this exciting field.”
