Ingeborg Hers: Exploring New Frontiers in Platelet Biology and Thrombosis Research

Ingeborg Hers, Director of PGR Partnerships, Professor in Pharmacology and Cell Signaling at University of Bristol, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Postdoctoral opportunity: explore the potential of PROTACs in platelet biology!

How does degrading BTK compare with inhibiting its kinase activity and what could that mean for platelet function and thrombosis?

We are excited to share that we have a position available for a motivated and curious Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our multidisciplinary PROTAC research team in the Bristol Platelet Group. The successful candidate will conduct a collaborative, industry-funded project investigating BTK degradation in human platelets and compare functional consequences of a range of degraders with conventional kinase inhibitors.

You could be a great fit if you have:

  • A biomedical sciences background and a recently awarded or imminent PhD in a relevant area
  • Experience with techniques such as cell culture, western blotting, FACS and confocal microscopy
  • Great enthusiasm for cellular mechanisms, developing new approaches and solving research challenges
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong communication skills

Experience in platelet functional analysis and PROTAC work is highly desirable.
