Panama Achieves Self-Sufficiency in Haemophilia Care – NNHF
Novo Nordisk Haemophilia and Haemoglobinopathies Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Panama achieves self-sufficiency in haemophilia care!
Nearly two decades of collaboration, local leadership and capacity strengthening have transformed haemophilia care in Panama.
With the completion of the third NNHF-supported project, the country has reached a major milestone, demonstrating the power of sustained partnerships and local ownership.
- 20 satellite clinics supporting decentralised care, with 11 strengthened through infrastructure improvements.
- 170 healthcare professionals trained, strengthening expertise across the country.
- 12 hours less travel time on average, bringing care closer to people’s daily lives.
- Specialised adult care established, strengthening the transition from paediatric services.
At the heart of this achievement are Fundación Panameña de Hemofilia (FUNPAH), healthcare professionals and public authorities, whose commitment has driven lasting improvements in care.
And the impact continues!
Panama is building on this experience to advance sickle cell disease care.
Congratulations to all our partners for demonstrating what long-term collaboration and local ownership can achieve!
Discover the journey towards self-sufficiency.”
