Marc Carrier: New ISTH 2026 Data May Simplify DVT Evaluation During Pregnancy
Marc Carrier, Professor at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
”New data presented at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2026 Congress in Paris!
Dr. Marc Rodger presented the LEFt study results.
Key findings from this prospective multinational study:
- An ‘unlikely’ LEFt score combined with a negative D-dimer safely excluded DVT without the need for ultrasound imaging.
- None of the patients meeting these criteria experienced an initial or follow-up venous thromboembolism.
- A ‘likely’ LEFt score identified a subgroup at substantially higher risk, with nearly 28% diagnosed with VTE.
These findings represent an important step toward a more individualized, evidence-based approach to the evaluation of suspected DVT in pregnancy.”
