Blood grouping discrepancies occur when forward grouping and reverse grouping produce inconsistent results.
While these discrepancies may appear uncommon, they should never be ignored, as an incorrect blood group can lead to incompatible transfusions and serious clinical consequences.
Resolving these discrepancies requires a systematic approach that includes verifying patient identity, reviewing clinical history, repeating serological testing, assessing specimen and reagent quality, and performing additional immunohematological investigations when necessary.
Each step is essential to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
