Aravind Palraj: Exploring Hierarchical Frequency of Clinical Features of APS

Aravind Palraj, Senior Resident in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at Madras Medical College, shared a post onĀ X:

“A practical way to remember APS is to think in a hierarchy of manifestations – from common thrombotic and obstetric events to unusual and rare systemic complications.

Most frequent features include:

  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Ischemic stroke
  • Pregnancy morbidity
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Livedo reticularis

But APS can also present with less frequent, unusual, and even rare manifestations involving the heart, retina, liver, adrenals, bone, lungs, brain, and digits.

Recognizing this broader spectrum matters – because APS is far more than just DVT and recurrent pregnancy loss.”
