Arun V. J: Our Clinical Audit on Transfusion Safety Selected for Presentation at CAHOCON 2026
Arun V. J, Member of ADRP: The Association for Blood Donor Professionals and International Society of Blood Transfusion, Medical Doctor at Malabar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“You get a blood transfusion. You feel fine.
Five years later, you’re diagnosed with Hepatitis B.
Nobody connects the dots. Nobody looks back. That’s the problem.
Adverse events from blood transfusions don’t ring an alarm the next morning. They quietly build over years, sometimes decades. By the time anyone notices, the original blood unit is long gone. The donor is untraceable. The damage is done.
This is why donor screening and deferral is not paperwork. It’s protection. Silent. Invisible. Absolutely critical.
Our clinical audit — ‘Ensuring Long-term Patient and Transfusion Safety through Comprehensive Blood Donor Screening and Deferral Practices’ — has been selected for presentation at CAHOCON 2026, Chennai Trade Centre – India , 11th and 12th April 2026.
It’s a competitive entry in the Best Clinical Audit Competition.
I’m grateful to CAHO – Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations for this platform.
Transfusion Medicine rarely gets the spotlight it deserves. Most people associate blood banks with collection drives and donation camps. Few think about what happens before the blood reaches the patient.
That invisible layer of safety? That’s us.
If you’re attending CAHOCON 2026, let’s meet.
Drop a comment or message me.
Let’s talk about what’s hiding beneath the tip of the iceberg.”
