Austin Manning: Mercy San Juan Medical Center’s Role in Kristen’s Stroke Recovery and Hope

”May is Stroke Awareness Month!
As the first hospital north of the Bay Area to be officially certified by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, this month provides an important opportunity to shine a light on stroke awareness, showcasing our expertise in complex neurosciences at Mercy San Juan Medical Center and the Dignity Health Neurological Institute of Northern California.
I wanted to share Kristen’s story in honor of Stroke Awareness Month and the impact the doctors, nurses, therapists and care staff at Mercy San Juan Medical Center had on her survival and recovery.
Kristen experienced a postpartum bilateral carotid dissection and stroke 8 weeks after giving birth.
