“Excited to share that Advances in Transfusion Medicine: A Practical Handbook (Elsevier), edited by Dr. Parmatma Prasad Tripathi, is now out!
Anyone who has prepared for the Transfusion Medicine finals knows the struggle with Paper 4 (Recent Advances).There was never a proper book for it, and reading every paper published each month just isn’t practical. Now there’s a starting point.
This handbook covers blood components, patient blood management, apheresis, pediatric transfusions, immunohematology, cellular therapy, emerging technologies, and more, written by more than 100 transfusion medicine experts across India and beyond. You’ll still need to keep up with the latest publications, but at least now you know where to start.
I had the opportunity to contribute Chapter 90 (yeah, it’s way too deep), on platelet and neutrophil antigen systems and what they mean for alloimmunization, transfusion reactions and precision transfusion. Enjoyed writing it, and I’m happy to be part of this effort.
