Denise Braendgaard: OneSCD Brings Sickle Cell Disease to the Global Stage
Denise Braendgaard, General Manager at Novo Nordisk Haemophilia and Haemoglobinopathies Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn, adding:
“The launch of OneSCD at the United Nations General Assembly UNGA81 marks an important milestone for the sickle cell disease community.
For me, OneSCD brings the full circle into focus: local realities, continental collaboration, global alignment and country-led action.
Just three weeks ago, I was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with our partners from Tanzania and other key African countries carrying a high burden of sickle cell disease, celebrating the launch of the partnership between Africa CDC and the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia and Haemoglobinopathies Foundation (NNHF) for the implementation of the Continental Plan for Sickle Cell Disease and Other Inherited Blood Disorders.
Now, OneSCD brings this country and continental momentum to the global stage.
Global alignment matters, and lasting impact happens at country level. Countries most affected must have a meaningful voice in shaping priorities and solutions. At NNHF, we will continue working alongside governments, partners and communities to translate shared priorities into locally led, sustainable action.
One message is clear: where a person lives should not determine whether they can access diagnosis, quality care and treatment.
