Gabriela A.: New FDA Approval Advances the Future of Dried Plasma

Gabriela A., Project Coordinator at UT Health San Antonio, shared a post on LinkedIn:

”The FDA’s recent approval of ‘Ezplaz’, the first-ever-dried plasma product licensed in the United States, marks a major advancement in trauma care, particularly for military, emergency response, and other austere environments where traditional blood products are difficult to store and transport.

This milestone highlights the growing momentum behind blood preservation research, including TRC4-supported work at UTAustin, where investigators are exploring innovative thin-film freeze-drying approaches that could help shape the future of blood product storage, transport, and use in austere environments.

It’s exciting to see innovations once considered aspirational become reality, while groundbreaking research across The University of Texas System continues to transform bold ideas into real-world solutions.”
