Inna Vilshanivska: Sharing Ukraine’s Experience in Blood Donor Retention at the ISBT 2026
Inna Vilshanivska, Head of Donors Department of Blood Services Center at National Specialized Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Another unforgettable ISBT Congress.
I am incredibly grateful to ISBT for awarding me the Harold Gunson Fellowship, which made it possible for me to attend this congress.
Thank you for investing in young professionals and giving us opportunities to learn, share our experience, and build new collaborations.
This year was especially meaningful for me.
I had the honour of serving as Co-Moderator of the Donors and Donation session alongside Rachel Thorpe.
It was a great experience, and I truly enjoyed leading discussions on donor recruitment, retention, and the future of blood donation.
I was also very happy to present my poster, ‘Motivating and Retaining Blood Donors During a Full-Scale War: Ukraine’s Experience.’
It was an honour to share Ukraine’s experience and to discuss it with colleagues from around the world. A special thank you to Noriko Namba for moderating my poster presentation and for your thoughtful questions and kind support.
My sincere thanks also go to my mentor, Rachel Thorpe.
Your guidance, encouragement, and belief in me have helped me grow both professionally and personally. I am truly grateful to learn from you.
Finally, thank you to everyone I met during the congress. Every conversation, every new connection, and every shared idea reminded me how strong and supportive the global transfusion medicine community is.
See you at the next ISBT!”
