Julia Owens: Improving Acute Stroke Care for Patients Without Timely Intervention
Julia Owens, Chief Executive Officer at Basking Biosciences Inc, reposted from Basking Biosciences, Inc. on LinkedIn:
”It was amazing to see the comprehensive neurosurgery suites recently opened and some of the state of the art tools used to intervene in critical moments.
Unfortunately many patients with acute stroke can’t get to a primary stroke center to access care fast enough or their clots aren’t accessible with thrombectomy.
At Basking we’re developing BB-031 to provide more treatment options for patients.
I am inspired daily by the work of Dr. Shahid Nimjee and others advancing new approaches to reach patients not receiving treatment today.”
Quoting Basking Biosciences, Inc.‘s post:
”Our team recently visited The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where our co-founder, Dr. Shahid Nimjee, leads research on anti-vWF aptamers and their reversal agents for treating thromboembolic stroke.
As a practicing neurosurgeon, Dr. Nimjee treats stroke patients. In the lab, he studies clot biology and strategies to safely restore blood flow.
As Basking’s chief scientific officer and stroke clinical lead, he helps guide our scientific strategy and stroke clinical program.
It’s inspiring to see science in action and to work alongside such a dedicated team.
Together, we’re advancing the future of stroke care.”
