Keith Berelowitz: Building Better Medicines by Listening to Patients With Bleeding Disorders
Keith Berelowitz, Founder and CEO of trialport, Chairperson Fulham Research Ethics Committee at Health Research Authority, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What happens when you keep watering a seed for 25 years?
On the first episode of the Human Algorithm Podcast, we sat down with Benny Sorensen, CEO of Hemab Therapeutics.
Benny’s path started during a break from medical school in Denmark. After one afternoon with coagulation professor Jørgen Ingerslev, he walked out with the keys to the lab. Soon he was sitting with patients and hearing their stories, and the science became personal. He has been building on that ever since.
A few moments to look forward to:
‘We are not a platform company. We are a people company.’ Hemab starts by listening to people living with bleeding disorders, then finds the technology to match.
The advice he got from Henri Termeer, who built Genzyme: focus on building important medicine first, and good business will follow.
How patients sat at the table to help shape the protocol for Hemab’s upcoming Phase 3 trial in Glanzmann thrombasthenia.
‘You get inspired if you listen to learn. You lose out if you just listen to reply.’
At trialport, these are the conversations we want to keep having.
Thank you, Benny, for such an open and hopeful conversation.
Access the episode via the trialport page…..You are in for a treat!”
