Luca Seffin: To the Science, the People, and the Journey – Thank You SR-Tiget

Luca Seffin, Postdoctoral Researcher at San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-Tiget), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I am grateful to Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele for giving me the opportunity to pursue my PhD in such a stimulating scientific environment.

I was fortunate to carry out my research at the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-Tiget), a place whose mission of developing innovative Gene and Cell Therapies for patients with genetic diseases has always made the work feel particularly meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you to Prof. Alessandro Aiuti for welcoming me into his group first as a Research Fellow and then giving me the opportunity to pursue my PhD within SR-Tiget.

I am truly grateful for the trust, the opportunities and the scientific environment he has created, which allowed me to learn, question, explore and grow throughout these years.

A very special thank you goes to my supervisor, Dr. Serena Scala.

Thank you for your guidance, support and trust throughout this journey, for sharing your knowledge and experience, and for always being there through both the exciting and the more challenging moments.

I am especially grateful for all the time and effort you have invested in my growth, for the countless discussions, advice and encouragement, and for everything

I have learned from you both scientifically and personally.

I could not have asked for a better mentor for these years.

And, of course, thank you to the whole Aiuti group.

A PhD is made up of much more than experiments and results: it is also the everyday conversations, collaborations, shared frustrations, laughs and all the small moments in between.

I feel very lucky to have shared these years with such a great group of people, and I will carry many of these memories with me.

Looking back, the degree is perhaps the simplest way to mark the end of this chapter.

What matters most is everything that came with it: the science, the people, the challenges and everything I learned along the way.

One chapter closes, and I am grateful for where this one has taken me.

Now, I am curious to see what comes next.”
