Maria Fredin Grupper: WHA79 Adopts Landmark WHO Resolution on Stroke
Maria Fredin Grupper, Executive Director at World Stroke Organization, shared on LinkedIn:
”From Commitment to Action: WHA79 Adopts Landmark WHO Resolution on Stroke
WHA79 has concluded after a week of intense discussions influenced by significant shifts in the global health landscape and rising geopolitical challenges.
Amid these debates, meaningful progress was made towards WHO’s core mission: improving global health and ensuring that no one is left behind.
A major highlight of the Assembly was the adoption of the ‘Reducing the burden of stroke: strengthening prevention, acute care, rehabilitation and health-system readiness’ resolution, a landmark achievement that firmly positions stroke at the forefront of both global and national health agendas.
The Global Stroke Action Coalition convened a high-level roundtable, bringing together Ministers and ministerial representatives from eight countries along with other key stakeholders to discuss the implementation of the resolution and the path forward.
The focus now shifts from commitment to implementation.
Together with countries, partners, and the global health community, we must translate this momentum into meaningful action and measurable impact for people living with — and at risk of — stroke worldwide!”
