Quamruz Zafar: Using the FAST Approach Saves Lives and Reduces Long Term Disability
Quamruz Zafar, Founder and Managing Director at Clinivance Labs, shared on LinkedIn:
”Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or reduced, leading to brain tissue damage.
It can be ischemic due to a clot, hemorrhagic due to bleeding, or a transient ischemic attack TIA, often called a mini stroke.
Common risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle.
Recognizing early warning signs using the FAST approach, Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency services, can save lives and reduce long term disability.
Early diagnosis, rapid treatment, and risk factor control are crucial in preventing complications such as paralysis, memory impairment, and depression.”
