“September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month
This September, we stand together to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and advocate for meaningful change for people living with sickle cell disease.
For millions of sickle cell warriors across the globe and their families, the journey is about much more than managing a health condition. It is about access to early and accurate diagnosis, comprehensive care, effective treatment, psychosocial support, dignity, and the opportunity to live a full and productive life.
Awareness must therefore lead to action.
- Educate — Share accurate information and challenge myths and stigma.
- Advocate — Champion policies that improve equitable access to diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive care.
- Support — Stand with sickle cell warriors, caregivers and families.
- Amplify — Ensure that the voices and lived experiences of people affected by sickle cell disease are heard where decisions are made.
Through my work with Innovative Hematology, Inc. and AMPATH Kenya partnership, I remain committed to strengthening ties between patients, healthcare professionals, communities, advocates and policymakers to help close the gaps in sickle cell care in Kenya and across borders.
Our warriors deserve to be seen. Supported. Empowered.
Awareness today. Advocacy every day. A brighter tomorrow.
Together, we can work toward a future where every person living with sickle cell disease has access to the care, support and opportunities they deserve.”
