Suraj Wilson: Back From ASCO 2026 With A Renewed Commitment To Cancer Research
Suraj Wilson, JAPAC Regional Medical Director of Oncology Clinical Sciences at The Medical Affairs Company (TMAC), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Back from ‘Monk Mode’ feeling reenergised and motivated to continue my journey supporting cancer research after attending the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2026 conference in the Windy City Chicago!
Expecting to immerse myself in lots of new science surrounding my repertoire of clinical studies in lung cancer (NSCLC), skin cancer (melanoma, CSCC, BCC), gynaecologic cancer (ovarian cancer), head and neck cancer (HNSCC) and Cancer Associated Thrombosis (CAT) but instead got sucked into the human emotions surrounding cancer through the very touching sessions of the ASCO President Dr. Eric Small during the President’s Address about the recent loss of his wife due to cancer and the equally touching session on grief by the Guest Speaker David Kessler.
Also, had a once-in-a-lifetime experience of experiencing the exciting, stirring and rousing atmosphere during the Plenary Session when results of a possible ‘magic bullet’ for pancreatic cancer was announced!
Never have I seen a hall full of thousands of medical practitioners standing up and giving a long standing ovation to celebrate the good news!
So, returning to Malaysia with a renewed commitment to continue supporting all the oncology clinical studies I am involved with and I now have the ASCO Foundation ‘Conquer Cancer’ cap to constantly remind me of the meaningful work I am doing – Research Conquers Cancer!”
