Quoting International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT)‘s post:
”The Patient Blood Management subgroup of the ISBT Clinical Transfusion Working Party is dedicated to spreading awareness on PBM and to help support its wider implementation.
This week, we’re shining a light on Patient Blood Management (PBM) and each day, we’ll explore a different phase of the PBM system, sharing diverse perspectives on who can benefit from it.
Patient blood management (PBM) is a new paradigm to manage and preserve an individual’s own blood in health and illness and highlighted as a patient-centered approach aimed at improving patient outcomes with reduced morbidity, mortality and length of hospital stay.
For Day 1, we’re highlighting Phase A of the WHO Implementation Guidance, focusing on the aims and initial steps involved in establishing PBM within healthcare settings.”
