Laurence Woollard: Launching the ‘Bridging the Gap’ Evaluation
Laurence Woollard, Director at On The Pulse Consultancy, shared on LinkedIn:
“Really proud to share the launch of Bridging the Gap – a new Midlands-wide service evaluation exploring how people living with inherited bleeding disorders access, understand and use treatment-related information.
This marks the first joint initiative of its kind between the haemophilia comprehensive care centres in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham, working in partnership to better understand what supports shared decision making in practice, particularly as treatment options continue to evolve.
Getting this off the ground has been no mean feat but it’s been made considerably more manageable thanks to the leadership and commitment of Dr Gill Lowe, alongside Dr Stella Salta and Dr Emily Millen. I’m also grateful to colleagues across the centres and the Steering Group for their input in shaping the work, along with Dr Rich Gorman for his independent research support and expert contribution throughout.
The evaluation is now underway, with learning intended to inform service improvement regionally and contribute to wider conversations about equity, communication and patient-centred care across the inherited bleeding disorders community.
The Pan-Midlands Service Evaluation Initiative is supported by unrestricted grants from Roche Products Ltd., Chugai Pharma UK Ltd. and Takeda UK Limited. Sponsors have provided financial support only and have had no involvement in the project.
