New TIF Guidelines for Emergency Care in Thalassaemia and SCD

“TIF is delighted to announce the publication of the second edition of the ‘Guidelines for the Emergency Management of Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease’.
Thoroughly revised, updated, and significantly expanded, this new edition builds on TIF’s pioneering 2012 publication while extending its scope to encompass Sickle Cell Disease alongside Thalassaemia.
At its heart lies the vital objective to help healthcare professionals respond swiftly, safely and confidently when a person living with a haemoglobin disorder requires Emergency Care.
The guide provides a practical and accessible framework for recognising potentially serious signs, symptoms and complications; undertaking appropriate initial assessments and investigations; initiating urgent management; and identifying when specialist involvement or escalation of care is required.
This landmark publication is the product of an extensive international collaboration, bringing together a distinguished multidisciplinary group of editors, authors and contributors whose collective expertise spans Haematology, Emergency Medicine and related fields.
