“Smarter platelet collection starts with better use of data.
An interesting study shared by International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) and published in Vox Sanguinis highlights how improved platelet inventory management and collection planning helped a blood centre in Poland reduce platelet expiry rates from 1.86% to just 0.04%.
The key takeaway? It’s not just about collecting more platelets, but collecting the right components, in the right quantities, at the right time.
