Aikati Anastasiou: Blood Pressure Variability in Rescue Stenting for Acute Ischaemic Stroke
Aikati Anastasiou, Radiology Resident at University Hospital Basel (USB), shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in European Stroke Journal, adding:
”Excited to share the 3rd and final publication from my PhD journey
Our multicentre study, ‘Blood pressure management in patients receiving rescue stenting after failed endovascular treatment in large vessel occlusion acute ischaemic stroke’, has now been published in the European Stroke Journal.
In this work, we explored how post-procedural blood pressure management relates to outcomes in patients undergoing rescue stenting after failed thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion stroke.
In our study, higher blood pressure variability (BPV) was associated with worse clinical outcomes in stroke patients treated with RS as bailout therapy after failed reperfusion.
No association was shown between mean, maximum, minimum and delta SBP and clinical outcomes.
This project represents a major collaborative effort across multiple international centres, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved.
And finally, a big thank you to my supervisors: Marios Psychogios, Prof. Dr. Mira Katan, co-authors, colleagues, friends, and family who supported me along the way.”
