Ali Hammed: How to Manage Jugular Eagle Syndrome with CVST?

Ali Hammed, Neurosurgeon at Tishreen University Hospital, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Neuroendovascular Therapy, adding:

”How would you manage Jugular Eagle Syndrome with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis in clinical practice?

Our recently published case highlights internal jugular vein compression by an elongated styloid process as a rare cause of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.

Despite therapeutic anticoagulation, progressive symptoms required successful endovascular thrombectomy.

Surgical styloidectomy remains the definitive option to relieve venous outflow obstruction and reduce recurrence risk.

This case emphasizes the importance of recognizing venous outflow disorders in patients with unexplained CVST.”
