Angela Fan: Persistent Unmet Needs in Polycythemia Vera
Angela Fan, Lead Health Economics and Outcomes Research in Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Aaron T Gerds et al., published in Journal of Blood Medicine, adding:
“Pleased to share that our US retrospective real-world evidence study, Disease Burden, Inadequate Hematocrit Control, and Thromboembolic Events in Patients with Polycythemia Vera Despite Current Standard of Care Treatment, was recently published in the Journal of Blood Medicine.
This study adds important peer-reviewed real-world evidence highlighting the persistent unmet needs and disease burden among patients with polycythemia vera (PV) despite current standard-of-care treatment.
The findings demonstrate that many treated patients continue to experience challenges achieving adequate hematocrit control and remain at risk for thromboembolic events in routine clinical practice.
The study further highlights the substantial clinical and economic burden of thromboembolic events, providing additional insight into PV‘s ongoing impact on patients and the healthcare system.
Congratulations to all of the authors on this important publication, and special thanks to Dr. Aaron Gerds, for his collaboration and contributions to this work.”
