Dima Shulkin: Could a Single Blood Draw Reveal How Fast Someone Is Truly Aging?

Dima Shulkin, Co-Founder and CTO at RobotDreams GmbH, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Mahdi Moqri et al., published in Nature, adding:

“Could a single blood draw reveal how fast someone is truly aging?

A 2026 study by Mahdi Moqri et al. in Nature Magazine suggests it might.

The team analyzed blood from over 4.000 people, tracking both chemical tags on DNA (called methylation) and which genes were actively being used, and pinpointed 106 genes that consistently shift with age, mostly running our immune defense (T cells).

In two independent groups of over 23.000 people, the strongest of these aging marks were tied to 30 to 75% higher risk of death per typical step up in methylation.

Early days, but a step toward more honest tests of biological age.”
