Frauke Swieringa: We Take a Deep Dive Into How Platelets Drive Thrombus Formation
Frauke Swieringa, Senior scientist at Synapse BV, Maastricht, shared on LinkedIn:
”Excited to share the result of a great collaboration: our review “Platelet activation and signaling in thrombus formation” is now published in Blood.
In this review, we take a deep dive into how platelets drive thrombus formation ranging from classic platelet signaling pathways to surprising new players uncovered using phenotype information of 540 mouse genes.
We further emphasize how platelet responses change in venous, inflammatory, and infection-driven thrombosis, considering their interactions with the endothelium, leukocytes, and red blood cells.
A big “Thank you” to Alice Assinger! It was an honor and absolute pleasure to work with you and Johan Heemskerk on this exciting topic.”
