Jannicke Koldéus-Falch: Advances from the STROKEWISE Study in Secondary Stroke Prevention

Jannicke Koldéus-Falch, Researcher and Phd Candidate at Univeristy of Oslo, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in EP Europace – EHJ Arrhythmias and Electrophysiology, adding:

“Happy to share that our article from the STROKEWISE study has been published in EP Europace.

In this study, we investigated women with acute cryptogenic stroke and the role of long-term rhythm monitoring with an insertable cardiac monitor.

Prolonged monitoring increased detection of atrial fibrillation and enabled safe initiation of anticoagulation.

Recurrent stroke rates did not differ significantly between groups, which may partly reflect the relatively high use of anticoagulation in the control group.

Overall, the findings may support the value of extended rhythm monitoring to optimize secondary prevention.

Many thanks to my co-authors, supervisors and collaborators at Akershus University Hospital, Haukeland University Hospital and the University of Oslo.

I am also grateful to Dam Foundation and the Norwegian Women’s Public Health Association (NKS) for research funding and support.”
