Mostafa Faisal Mohammed Saleh: Targeting Plasma Cells to Control Persistent ADAMTS13 Autoantibodies in iTTP
Mostafa Faisal Mohammed Saleh, Associate Professor of Clinical Hematology and HSCT at Assiut University, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored et al., published in Hematology, adding:
“Excited to share our latest report on Daratumumab in immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP)
Exploring the emerging role of plasma cell–targeted therapy in refractory and frequently relapsing iTTP.
Anti-CD38 therapy targets plasma cells responsible for persistent anti-ADAMTS13 autoantibody production.
Six clinical reports (approximately 40 patients): ADAMTS13 response in 75% in the largest multicenter cohort; median response time 26 days.
Promising option for refractory or relapsing iTTP, with generally manageable toxicity.
Biochemical relapse remains a concern. Prospective trials are needed to define its role.”
