Paula Caporal: Consensus on the Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Stroke in Argentina
Paula Caporal, Assistant Scientist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Argentine Archives of Pediatrics, adding:
”Honored to share our latest publication in Argentine Archives of Pediatrics: a consensus on the diagnosis and management of pediatric stroke.
Although pediatric stroke is rare, its impact is significant, and recognition is too often delayed.
As critical care clinicians, we know that time is brain, and that having a clear, locally adaptable protocol can change outcomes.
This document is the result of a collaborative effort between the Argentine Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the Argentine Society of Pediatrics, and the Argentine Association of Neurosurgery.
It covers early clinical suspicion, neuroimaging strategies, acute management, thrombolysis and thrombectomy criteria, and prognostic factors, written to be adaptable to any pediatric institution.
The full document is open-access and in Spanish.
I hope it is useful for colleagues working in pediatric care across Latin America and beyond.”
