Victor Schulze-Zachau: Comparing Perforation and Outcomes in MVO and LVO Thrombectomy
Victor Schulze-Zachau, Neurointerventional Fellow at Beaumont Hospital, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”Proud to share that our article ‘Incidence and outcome of perforations during medium vessel occlusion compared with large vessel occlusion thrombectomy’ has been featured among the ‘Highlighting European articles in JNIS – most cited in 2025′ by ESMINT!
This multicenter study provided important comparative data on perforation rates and outcomes between medium and large vessel occlusion thrombectomy – a complication that has most significant clinical implications and needs to be kept in mind when interpreting the results of recent RCTs.
We’re continuing to build on this line of research with the PREVENT registry, aimed at further improving understanding of intraprocedural vessel perforation and optimizing complication management in thrombectomy.
Thanks to all collaborators and centres involved — onward with generating evidence to improve stroke care!”
