Victoria Azodoh: Strengthening Maternal Nutrition Through Evidence-Based Action
Victoria Azodoh, Manuscript reviewer at World Joυrnаl of Public Health at World Joυrnаl of Public Health, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in World Journal of Advanced Research and Reviews:
“Our study, ‘Mapping Anemia Burden in Abuja: Insights from Facility-Based Data,’ found that nearly 1 in 3 pregnant women (30.9%) attending antenatal clinics were anaemic, indicating that maternal anaemia remains a moderate public health concern even in the Federal Capital Territory.
The findings highlight the importance of strengthening maternal nutrition interventions, promoting iron-folic acid supplementation and malaria prevention, and leveraging routine health data to guide evidence-based decision-making.
More importantly, the study demonstrates how locally generated data could be used to identify priority populations and inform context-specific strategies for improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.
This paper contributes to the literature by providing localized evidence on the burden and distribution of anaemia among pregnant women in Abuja using facility-based data.
Grateful to my co-authors and all stakeholders whose contributions made this work possible. I look forward to continued collaborations aimed at advancing maternal nutrition and public health research in Nigeria and beyond.”
