Zain Tariq, Transitional Year Resident at Mercy Health St Vincent Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Osama O Zaidat et al, published in JAMA, adding:
”Excited to share our latest publication in JAMA: ‘One-Year Outcomes After Endovascular Treatment for Large Acute Ischemic Stroke: The TESLA Randomized Clinical Trial.’
Unlike the neutral 90-day primary results, the 1-year outcomes favoring thrombectomy suggest that the recovery trajectory for large-core stroke may extend well beyond the traditional 3-month window. The trial’s use of non-contrast CT also has meaningful implications for global applicability, given how widely accessible NCCT is compared to advanced imaging.
