Zelalem G. Moges: Recognizing Leech Infestation in Rural Patients with Unexplained Vaginal Bleeding
Zelalem G. Moges, Doctor Of Medicine at Ambo University, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleague co-authored, published in IJSCR, adding:
“I am excited to share our recently published case report in one of the prestigious Wolters Kluwer Journal IJSCR, titled
‘Post-menopausal vaginal bleeding causing severe anemia due to leech infestation: a case report’
The case is significant for clinicians: In patients from rural, resource-limited settings with unexplained vaginal bleeding, they should maintain a high index of suspicion for leech infestation. A simple speculum examination can confirm the diagnosis.
Huge thanks to Robel Kasaye (You are more than a mentor bro) and my co-author Dereje Yadesa .
Glory to the Lord.”
