Maha Othman on 10-Year Anniversary of the CanVECTOR Research Network!
Maha Othman, Editor-in-Chief of Current Opinion in Hematology Journal, Research Co-Lead at CanVECTOR Research Network, shared on LinkedIn:
”Amazing conference this past weekend marking the 10-Year Anniversary of the CanVECTOR Research Network!
I’m truly proud to be part of the Steering Committee, Co-Leading the Basic Science and Translation Research Platform, and supporting the next generation of researchers. Congratulations to all the trainees and winners of the 2025 Platform Competition!
Special thanks to the leaders at inception — Marc Rodgers and Susan Kahn — and to the current leadership team: Grégoire Le Gal and Deborah Siegal for their continued vision and guidance.
Especially proud of two of my trainees / mentees who presented posters at the conference:
Anne F.:
“Prognostic Accuracy of the Khorana and Caprini Thromboembolic Risk Assessment Models in Patients with Gynecological Tumours: A Meta-Analysis.”
This work was made possible through the contributions of my other mentees Abdelrahman Ahmed , Zein Hammad, Omar Hajjaj, Monzer Assar, as well as key statistical insights from Queen’s University and expert input from Dr. Kerstin DeWitt
Yousra Tera
“Thromboelastography and Haematological Parameters for Venous Thromboembolism Risk Prediction in Ovarian Cancer Patients.”
This sub-study stems from our larger Women’s Cancer Thrombosis Project, completed with fantastic collaboration from Queen’s Medical Oncology and GYN Oncology teams — Drs. Anita Agrawal, Rania Chehade, George Gray — and incredible support from NP Alexandra Stewart.
Congratulations to the conference co-chairs Amye Harrigan and Jameel Abdulrehman and the entire Planning Committee for an exceptional and rich program this year.
Proud to be part of this inspiring network and looking forward to continuing our collective work advancing thrombosis research and mentorship.”
