Richard Buka: Catching up with Dr. Sue Pavord on BSH + Some Extra Nuggets
Richard Buka, Academic Clinical Lecturer in Haematology at the University of Birmingham, posted on LinkedIn:
”Really fantastic to be able to share this interview that has been a long time coming.
Pip Nicolson and I had a wonderful opportunity to catch up with British Society for Hematology President Dr Sue Pavord on everything she has been doing with BSH + some extra nuggets.
We discussed in detail, work on defining liaison haematology that has been changing job plans and making sure colleagues are recognised for the considerable amount of time that is taken in providing advice to other colleagues.
We also talked about Dr Pavord’s central role in the UK’s response to the emergence of VITT, with the rapid MDT that was set up, clearly saving many lives, although sadly, not all. We finally touched on women’s health and her passion for recognising and dealing with the epidemic of iron deficiency in women and girls.
Truly inspiring stuff and a must listen for forward thinking, UK haematologists.”
