Ahmad Thuaimer: Success Story – Advanced Interventional Care for DVT
Ahmad Thuaimer, Chairman of Interventional Radiology at Dammam Medical Complex, shared on LinkedIn:
”Success Story | Advanced Interventional Care for DVT
We recently treated a 68-year-old female patient who developed a provoked deep vein thrombosis (DVT) following a left femur fracture—a common but potentially serious complication in immobile patients.
Given the extent of the clot burden and the patient’s clinical condition, we proceeded with a mechanical thrombectomy using the Angio Jet system.
The procedure was performed safely and efficiently, allowing us to restore venous flow, relieve symptoms, and prevent long-term complications such as post-thrombotic syndrome.
Outcome:
• Successful clot burdens reduction
• Immediate improvement in limb perfusion
• Smooth post-procedure recovery
• Patient discharged with optimized anticoagulation and follow-up plan
This case highlights the value of modern endovascular techniques in managing complex vascular conditions, even in elderly patients.
Proud of our interventional radiology team for delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Special thanks to Akram Akl, Hussain Alakeely, Boston Scientific Peripheral Interventions, Rami Kamal Hassan, Ahmed Adly”
