”New insights into bleeding mechanisms in acquired hemophilia A
A recent publication in Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH) highlights an often under-recognized contributor to bleeding severity in acquired hemophilia A (AHA): platelet function abnormalities.
The study demonstrates that beyond FVIII inhibitors, transient but clinically relevant platelet aggregation defects may be present during the acute phase of AHA and can improve in remission.
These findings help explain why bleeding severity does not always correlate with FVIII levels alone.

• Reinforces the concept that AHA is a multifactorial bleeding disorder
• Supports broader hemostatic assessment in complex bleeding cases
